Classic ASP Support and ASP developers

Do you need support for your older legacy software and websites?

Getting old: it happens to the best of us! ‘Legacy software’ is the term the tech industry will use to describe software that is out of date, usually having been replaced by a newer version of itself at some point. This can range from simple internal spreadsheet applications to full on website applications. We notice a lot of businesses often run out of date software and there can be some quite compelling businesses cases for it i.e. if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, can’t afford to upgrade it, it does what we need it to do.

Sticking to what is known and well understood reduces the risk of the unknown; many businesses have a set way of doing something, the chances are it’s the same way they will have carried out that task for a while. Replacing or updating software usually means spending some extra time training yourself and becoming familiar with how to use the new features and ways of carrying out the same tasks. It can also mean discovering new problems that may not have appeared in previous versions.

Legacy website support such as Classic ASP, Umbraco 4 and 6

There are of course some very compelling arguments about the security of your data, access to new features and future-proofing in favour of keeping many systems up to date. But if you’re reading this and you are in need of (for example) Classic ASP support, Classic ASP development, or help supporting an older Umbraco 3, Umbraco 4 or Umbraco 6 website in ASP.NET, then it can be difficult to know where to look! Every developer will likely try to convince you to upgrade and rebuild your site on the newest, latest greatest platform. They mean well and have your best interests at heart, but of course they don’t necessarily see how much money and time (and effort!) may have been invested from the business end in getting this system to where it is in the first place.

Naturally, if you run a website with out of date, legacy code or software, this can present a security risk. In these situations, you need legacy website support and development which can enhance what you already have.

We work with many customers helping them support slightly out of date solutions, while also ensuring that necessary patches and minor fixes have been applied to keep them running securely. If you run old legacy website and are in need of support or development, why not get in touch?
